Copyright and Content Reports

Indexhog hosts content submitted by users — project and organization details, the site addresses and sitemaps you ask us to monitor, and images you upload. If you believe content on the service infringes your copyright or is otherwise illegal, use the mechanism below. We act on every valid report we receive.

1. How to submit a report

Send your report to [email protected]. This is our electronic point of contact for notices under Article 16 of Regulation (EU) 2022/2065 (the Digital Services Act) and for copyright notices under 17 U.S.C. §512.

2. What a report must contain

So that we can act on your report, include all of the following:

  • A sufficiently substantiated explanation of why you consider the content to be infringing or illegal.
  • The exact URL, or URLs, of the content. A general description of the service is not enough to locate it.
  • Your name and email address, unless the report concerns child sexual abuse material.
  • A statement that you believe in good faith that the information in the report is accurate and complete.

For copyright notices, also include identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed, a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law, a statement made under penalty of perjury that the information is accurate and that you are authorised to act on the owner's behalf, and your physical or electronic signature.

3. What happens next

We review reports in the order received and act in a timely, diligent, non-arbitrary, and objective manner. When we decide, we tell you the outcome and the reasons for it, and we tell you what redress is available to you. Where we remove or restrict content, we give the user who submitted it a statement of reasons explaining the decision, the legal or contractual ground for it, and how they may contest it. Decisions are made by our staff; we do not use fully automated decision-making to remove content.

4. Counter-notice

If your content was removed and you believe that was a mistake or a misidentification, reply to the statement of reasons you received, or write to [email protected], explaining why the content should be restored. Include the URL of the removed content and your contact details. We will review it and restore content that should not have been removed.

5. Misuse and repeat infringement

We suspend, for a reasonable period and after prior warning, accounts that frequently submit manifestly unfounded reports, and accounts that repeatedly provide infringing or manifestly illegal content. Submitting a knowingly false report may expose you to liability.
